Lausanne WEA Creation Care Network

Website

LWCCN is the Global Campaign and network to nurture and “reinvigorate national creation care movements in 30 countries”

Important basis includes Jamaica Call to Action, which is a response to the Cape Town Commitment of the Lausanne Movement, in which an important section read:

“We are also commanded to care for the earth and all its creatures, because the earth belongs to God, not to us. We do this for the sake of the Lord Jesus Christ who is the creator, owner, sustainer, redeemer and heir of all creation…If Jesus is Lord of all the earth, we cannot separate our relationship to Christ from how we act in relation to the earth. For to proclaim the gospel that says ‘Jesus is Lord’ is to proclaim the gospel that includes the earth, since Christ’s Lordship is over all creation. Creation care is a thus a gospel issue within the Lordship of Christ. The Cape Town Commitment II-B-6, I-7

Lausanne Global ClassroomCreation Care Study Guide (2020)

Stewardship of God’s creation (creation care) is a clear biblical command and an integral part of what it means to follow Jesus as Lord. ‘If Jesus is Lord of all the earth, we cannot separate our relationship to Christ from how we act in relation to the earth. For to proclaim the gospel that says “Jesus is Lord” is to proclaim the gospel that includes the earth, since Christ’s Lordship is over all creation. Creation care is thus a gospel issue within the Lordship of Christ’ (The Cape Town Commitment I-7-A). But that’s not all: God’s creation is in the midst of a crisis that is ‘pressing, urgent, and that must be resolved in our generation’ (Jamaica Call to Action). This crisis, of which climate change and massive biodiversity loss are just a part, represents an existential threat to the future of human society. This Global Classroom helps fulfil the goal of engaging the church in various aspects of creation care, and seeks to inspire young leaders, established leaders, churches, organizations, and movements to understand the importance of creation care in all their ventures.

World Evangelical Alliance

The WEA features two dedicated entities active in the field of global environmental and sustainability efforts:

WEA Sustainability Centre

The WEA Sustainability Centre (a) inspires and empowers followers of Christ to exercise leadership on all levels of sustainability efforts and (b) equips churches and congregations around the world to implement Creation Care on a daily basis and thus become a strong, legitimate, and unified voice in global debates on sustainability.

The WEA Creation Care Task Force

The WEA Creation Care Task Force (CCTF) works to equip evangelicals to care for creation and raises awareness on how to deal responsibly with the environment. The Task Force has produced valuable resources and built a wide network of partnerships. Using the new WEASC as a platform, the CCTF will engage with international organizations, governments and like-minded NGOs to help connect and leverage the capacities of evangelical creation care organizations for greater impact at national and global levels.

Renew Our World

Website

“Renew Our World is a global movement of Christians who believe that since we are truly image bearers of God, we should act like it – living out love for one another in actions and in truth. Since we are image bearers of God, we won’t stand by while our neighbours are trapped in poverty, and we won’t stay idle as creation is left untended, and inequality is left to fester.

Right now, we are campaigning and praying for action on climate change and waste.

We have a vision for a world where all people have their basic needs met, everyone has the chance to flourish, we care for creation, and reduce inequality between rich and poor. We believe the church is called to lead the way.”

“We are a group of Christians who care about the Creation of the earth and are called to be faithful stewards of the environment, and to inspire others to do the same. Based on the love for God and people, we believe creation care is one of the spiritual mandates. “Wright, The Mission of God, 2013”. Through our events and activities, we hope people can reconcile with the earth with harmony for God’s glory. With the current environmental issues: such as climate change, air pollution, plastic wastes damaging ocean ecology, we hope to consolidate our resources to invite more people to participate into environmental action.”
